Latest Tax to Block — Bowling, Go-Karts, and Laser Tag
“Lower Taxes, Lower Costs” Governor Who Will Make Life More Affordable
HACKENSACK, NJ — Today, Congressman Josh Gottheimer, a Democrat running for Governor, announced the latest addition to his “Nickel and Dimed Agenda” stopping the proposed tax on bowling, go-karting, laser tag, and other recreational sports.
Buried in the proposed 2025 state budget is a nearly 7% tax hike on activities people do for fun — from bowling to laser tag to go-karting. It’s yet another way Trenton is whacking hardworking Jersey families who are just trying to enjoy a fun time out in the community.
“This is just the latest example of how out-of-touch Trenton has become,” said Gottheimer. “Families are already getting squeezed by high property taxes, childcare, and utility bills—and now they want to tax bowling? Enough is enough. For too long, hardworking families have been nickel and dimed by outrageous taxes and fees. As Governor, I’ll bring back common sense and lower taxes and costs, so families can afford to live, work, and stay right here in Jersey.”
Gottheimer’s “Nickel and Dimed Agenda” will focus on commonsense solutions that keep Jersey families from getting ripped off. As the “Lower Taxes, Lower Costs” Governor, Josh is committed to making life more affordable for Jersey families and solving problems in people’s lives.
